Big Walk uses host-owned saves: the person who starts the session keeps the group’s progress in their save file. Pick a dependable host and keep them for the whole walk.
What host-owned saves mean
- The host’s save file stores the group’s progress for that walk.
- The host must be available (and start the session) whenever the group wants to continue.
- This is why the official guides recommend choosing a regular host before the first session.
Saving on your platform
- On Steam, the official launch notes list Steam Cloud support, so a host’s save can follow them to another PC or Mac.
- On PS5 and Switch 2, saves are stored on the console / account as usual; cross-platform cloud sync is not announced.
If the host is unavailable, the group either waits or starts a fresh walk — there is no host migration at launch.
